The crochet bags you need right now

Tomorrow is the first day of fall and besides pumpkin flavored treats, trading that straw bag for a knit one is a must.

The cool air has already fallen and we are ready to wear our fall wardrobes! However, let us not forget that knits also make some great accessories especially bags!

I was thumping through the september issue of Elle yesturday and the focused on a few knit bags from high end designers.

What’s the difference between fall and summer crochet bags?

Top left: Dolce & Gabbana; Bottom left: Bottega Vetta; Right: Etro.

In the summer, crochet bags are created with an open weave stitch and with cotton based yarn. In the winter, acrylic or wool based yarns are used and are created with a simple single stitch. The Etro bag looks like a chain stitch, used to give crochet bags a knit look.

Texture also plays an important role in design. Both bags will have leather accents.

Best crochet bags to buy

The above bags are great investments but the pandemic has left me a little strapped for cash.

Left: Darling Spring, City Crochet tote, $180; Right: The Sak, Silverwood Crochet shopper in Mushroom, $119.

We loved these bags because they can actually be used for summer and spring as well giving them a 9 month wear potential.

If you are handy with the hook we love the following crochet bag kits:

Left: Lion’s Brand, Star Stitch purse, $56.49; Right: Wool and the gang, Want you back, $56.

These kits come with yarn, needle and instructions. Prices vary with sizing and if you want to make more then one.

If you do find a tutorial on making an awesome fall crochet bag do share..I am a happy hooker over here!

Happy Monday!
