Pairing dance with the fashion; the show returns for its 6th oncur.
By Yvette E
Yesturday, I was invited to the press preview for StylePointe, a fahion meets dance fusion featuring 5 emerging designers from diverse backgrounds.
The music was curated to compliment the clothes of each designer raging from Contemporary to Jazz and even some slapstick added for a little charm.
We sat down with Jingwen Xuan about her collection set to a Jazz routine with the theme song from Pink Pather mixed in called betwixt and between.
The collection is based on how we are in transition right now.Jingwen Xuan, about her collection
Indeed, the dance featured a quick change where boxes were put on stage with jackets, hats, a bag and a belt (or necklace?).
The patchwork of the clothes seem to mimic the theme of collection which was named by her professor.
The upbeat Jazz number by Beth Jucovy diverted from the mostly contemporary dance routines.
She originally wanted pop music but I thought collection was really fun and need something upbeat. I choose a spy theme because of the transition focus of the collection.Beth Jucovy, about her music choice
Out of the five designers, I think her color story was the most interesting, choosing navy blue, white and black as neutrals while adding bright colors like orange and pinks. Then she custom made all the prints including a chain bow mix that I just loved.
The actually show is September 10 and 11. We will be posting the preformances this Monday!!
Happy Hump Day,
