This spring came with so many trends, no one can not be in style! From bold colors, animal prints and looks spanning three decades (60’s, 70’s and 80’s) our heads a spinning with what trend best fits our personality, style or just our body shape. The first step is to know your base style. if you like to embrace your inner romantic then the ballet trend is for you.
Sparked by “Black Swan” , this trend was a shoe in , a ballet one, for Spring. The look combines soft, flowing bottoms with a solid colored top. Keep pieces tonal for a subtle effect, such as a beige pleated chiffon maxi skirt and matching bodysuit or a sheer chiffon dress or silk shirt. This light and airy silhouette should be kept subtle with cool sandals or ballet flats.
The trend embraces light airy fabrics and flexiblity. Its not tight and heels are a no-no. Its about grace and charm and i would say its the sister to the lace trend which we will review next week.
So to wear it light, try a sheer pleated skirt with a body suit and pair with ballerina flats:
To go a little more formal, try a chiffon dress and pair with tie up ballet flats.
please, no tutus – that is better left for the professionals!

I am not one to paint my nails as a designer and typist but these trends are really tempting. These nail trends come straight off the runway with a new twist on the french manicure (there seems to be one every year) and bold looks that has us all drooling.
These two tone prints have a semi-moon at the base of the finger and a gorgeous tip. The base color is always a neutral – brown, white or clear. This very 1940’s piece can do with a french style but not always since the main feature is the moon at the base of the finger.
With and Without french…still a classic look
Get this look at home: Paint the base color in white or brown. The use a brush (thin mohair bristle or the brush of your chosen black nail polish) to paint a moon shape on the base of the nail in a arc.
Rihanna rocked this style in her “Rude Boy” video. For a video tutorial see below and have some fun!!
I don’t know what is going on with Tyra Banks. She was such an influential model and stunning beauty, yet when it comes to launching the new generation of models via her popular tv show “America’s Next Top Model”; she falls flat! Tyra would have you believe she isn’t the person who decides who wins and who loses but over the years we have all seen Ms. Banks go to bat for several models whose careers never quite took off. There was Saleisha Stowers who was a participant of Tyra’s Camp T zone and who Tyra personally tried to help mold. Saleisha never filmed a Covergirl Ad or Commercial and there is no information on her since 2009! What happened? She did walk in New York and La fashion Week but like i said that WAS 2 years ago! Which is like dog years in the modeling industry. She also loved Eva Marcille(née Pigford) so much she even managed her career! Now Eva has been successful in acting, making several film and tv appearances, BUT she won America’s Next Top Model so where is the modeling career? And the only sucessful America’s Next Top Model winners have been models Tyra wasn’t too fond of. Remember how much she hated Danielle Evan’s accent so much? Dani still walks Fashion Week and was only one of 2 past winners who actually did a Covergirl Ad campaign AND commercials. She even had her contract renewed.
And the most successful models weren’t even winners! Toccara Jones with her bold personality and amazing curves has a great career. She had a fourteen page spread in Vogue Italia’s black model issue modeling alongside heavy hitters like Chanel Iman and Noemi Campbell. And she just did a major ad campaign for UK chain Evans. Molly Sue Gondi moved to Paris and became a sensation, modeling for Vogue Italia, Cosmopolitan and many others. Now Anne Ward is the newest winner standing at an industry cut off height of 6’3. Tyra also loved her but with Anne’s painful shyness and awkwardness can she go beyond the obligatory Vogue Italia spread? So should Tyra Banks reconsider her career of scouting models? or does she not want to really give up her title as America’s Top Model? You be the judge.

Hot Topic was the one place we all went to get rock tees, accessories and cool shoes. Hot Topic has been slowly fading from punk to mainstream kitchyness for the past three years hoping to gain more customers. We all hated when our bands went mainstream – Slipknot, Paramore and Linkin Park which all later change their sound. Hot Topic is no exception (pardon the pun). We ran into the new Hot Topic in Coral Springs mall which shoved all the rock style leftovers in the back behind a large wall. The items in front were now kitchy eyed cupcakes, sweet tees and mainstream rock bands tees.
In broward county, the store remain heavily punk influenced. The chain seems to want to be everything to everyone, using demographics to make their store appeal to local customers. Apparently being true to their loyal customers means nothing so here we are. If you still want punk and edgy items at affordable prices stop by our store. http:// www.fuscha.etsy.com
This has been a real hot topic since 2007 and that pun can be qouted.
I don’t even know why this keeps coming back as a “trend”! 1. This is like the fourth time punk has been in as a trend and 2. for some of us (mainly me!) punk is a way of life! But since once again punk is in I’ll tell you how to do it right. (I am an expert on the topic!) here are some examples of doing punk right without overdoing it unless you regularly dress punk. 1.Try pairing a studded denim vest with tiny shorts and ankle boots. 2. A ripped or torn t-shirt with jeans and a studded belt. 3. motorcycle boots with a floral spring dress and a denim jacket. 4. a safety pin adorned tee or blazer over jeans and a tee.
So don’t be afraid to try some of the punk looks even if you aren’t into alternative rock! If your not brave enough you can do a leather studded cuff, bag or belt to add some edge to any wardrobe!

Continuing with fashion’s time machine – Back to the future with the 1960’s look hitting the runway this season. Last week we took a look at the full skirt as a staple in the fall wardrobe. Fast forward (or backwards) to the Sheath dress, a boxy cut dress that curves into the waist and falls to mid thigh. The trick to the proper sheath dress is that it hugs and fits the body without being too revealing or tight. Here is a sample:
The proper sheath holds with accentuating any body parts giving a classic look.
Well here are some great choices:
We all expected a picture of a really expense sheath dress we can all gush over and here it is – a Givenchy sheath for 738.00:
Now for the get it for less part:
1. Banana Republic
We loved their version with a sweet v-neck and full bodice front for almost any busty gal for $130.00:
2. Anne Taylor Loft
This sheath dress accents the waist with a belt, giving a soft accent the waist and hiding tiny bellies for 79.50
3. On sale right now is Ralph Lauren’s sheath dress for 54.99, a steal from its regular price of 190.00:
4. For a steal all the time try catalogs like Newport and Spiegel. This dress from Spiegel is just 39.50:
The later you shop for this look the more options you will have for a cheaper alternative. Look for deals around mid summer just in time for Fall!
The millenium spin on these classic staples now come in an array of bold candy colors for the spring and summer.
Wear them with anything! I chose these amazing loafers by Dolce Vita for their vibrant lemon color and cute details.
Dolce Vita Loafers $115 www. piperlime.com
We are in a fashion time warp, the 70’s flew pass and now we are in the 60’s! I blinked myself out of existence! This trend calls for sheers, and flowing numbers. We will focus on a few key pieces to add to your wardrobe and i promise you (and my sister) I will keep it short.
1. The Full Skirt
Dropping just below the knee and flaring out while minimizing the waist is the best feature of this skirt. The skirt can be pricey and hard to find at mid-range price:
Gorgeous and a piece I even covet!! We can’t afford Jason Wu’s $1,595 dollar Bergdoff Goodman number but here are a couple that come close:
INC for Macy’s has come up with a slick black variety that lacks fullness but does match in hem and hip hugging action – price 49.99
For a more sportswear look, Ralph Lauren at Bloomingdale’s for much higher price of 159.99 (on sale right now but I am not telling how much)
New York and company had the lowest price at 36.99 but unless you are a 0, 12 or 18, you are out of luck.
The dirty little secret here is Sears which has a remarkable variety ranging from 19.95 to 67 dollars.
The next series in this set is the sheath dress, a staple for the 60’s housewife and now for glamor enthusiast…
The one thing you can say about this summer’s trends is that it is incredibly diverse from lace and silk to camouflage and animal print. The Oscars were a prime example of when the fashion police start handing out so many tickets we all run out to buy the latest trends.
A January trend that most fashion designers skipped was seen in Anne Hathaway’s beautiful red dress. The vibrant color, silk finish and ruffles are reminiscent of the long gone trend. For a paired down look of the trend, check out Jennifer Lawrence.
She’s a lady
The most recent trend to hit the spotlight is flocked with lace, trim and sheer fabrics in blush tones. Stars like Scarlett Johansson embrace the lace but go for a more deeper color.
Halle Berry, Hailee Machesa, and Natalie Portman all take a chapter from this trend from trim to gossamer fabrics.
So here is a test for you, are the celebrities in the video embracing one trend or another or just expressing their own style:
