Style file: Classic Rock

We all want to be different and with all the talk of your own personal style these days, how does one take a style and make it her own? Hybridizing is the answer. How you ask? Take the looks you like from various styles and mash them together and then stick with it. This week we are highlighting classic rock. Classic rock pairs the stream-like fit of classic, removes more complicated features from rock like studs and focuses more on print.

We have two girls above, one dressing classic rock down (avoid jeans and instead opt for tailored pants) and one dressing the style up. The accessories are also paired down with black being the main feature and subtle rock accents like chain handle on the bag and fringe on the shoes. For jewelry, look for stud earrings and necklaces in missing chain details. Avoid the stud cliche of most accessories and stick to more polished looks.

Next week, we will explore my go to winter style- classic romance.

Hello readers! It’s now time for Fall fashion! Although runway shows for September has the fashion world moving on to Spring 2013; us mere mortals have to stay firmly planted in this year and reality! So I bring you a collection of my favorite trend; Dark Romance! This Fall will have you unleashing your inner naughty girl with leather, lace, tulle, crosses, cameos, cocktail rings (which my fav jewelry company F.U.S.C.H.A designs the best ones!) velvet and embellishments! Also look for animal motifs on everything and roses! So I will have a polyvore set every week featuring different styles of dark romance! So keep reading!

Dark Romance Fall 2012

Fall 2012 is all about the femme fatale and gothic romance. So what’s a bad girl to do? Well why wait for Fall! I say let your inner rock chick or bad girl out by combining your leather pieces with warm weather friendly pieces, like bustiers, cotton tees, bright Summer colors and patterns! You can use these pieces for Fall by adding back your regular cooler weather gear so voila! You have used your leather in Summer! Enjoy!

rebel yell

Hey my lovely readers! I have decided to highlight the most long awaited trend this year….the maxi skirt! I know everyone is tired of the itty bitty skirts that have been everywhere for the past couple of years (eyes roll). So now its refreshing to see that long billowy skirts are in! But how do you where them without looking like your grandma or as if you just escaped off a Quaker farm? well I’m here to help! I have created some looks for you to see how the maxi skirt can be worn and I’ll also include some tips.

You can wear a maxi skirt with a t-shirt, motorcycle jacket or western shirt (or any button down shirt if you don’t like western wear). make sure your tee is nice and fitted and always tuck it in so it looks more chic. Make sure to add a bold Statement belt. Try to stay away from tiered skirts so you don’t look like you are auditioning for the new Little House On The Prarie; instead look for loose and slightly flared billowy maxi skirts like you just came back from vacationing in Ibiza (a girl can dream, sigh!). Shoes that can be paired with your maxi skirts are gladiator sandals or cowboy (or ankle boots). There you have it! Enjoy!
