It is so that trends for women have seeped into men fashion so gradually, no one even noticed. Today, we see helm the quilted look for fall 2017 and how to rock it. We picked a quilted pants ans jacket combo here but the look also comes in play with shirts as well. Here are some don’ts on wearing this trend:
- One element should be not be bulky. Wear pants with a streamline sweater or a quilted top with wide leg pants.
- Do not go superslim in any element. Skinny jeans and fitted tees are not suggested.
- If the quilted outerwear passes your knees, do not wear quilted pants.
As always, if you try out this look tag us on instagram #tfgquilted and you could be featured on our instagram page.
We barely covered why this was one of a few trends that popped up everywhere during men and women fashion week.
The West was a simple of American spirit since the gold rush (and now better job prospects) drew us to California. No surprise that American brands like Coach have embraced the dual sex trend (even though brand is now run by UK born Stuart Vevers). According to the show notes for Coach’s fall 2017 runway,
Vevers found inspiration in “the Great American outdoors” as well as “early New York hip-hop,”
What could be more American? Odd the forecast was for less cowhide early this year but it looks like American spirit is still in full force. Other brands to embrace cow hide include Calvin Klien, Ashley Williams, House of Holland and Balmain. Yep, not just American brands are getting into Western wear.
So dorn the cow this fall and watch vegans cringe.
I know, super long title but theses boots are everything but really don’t go with everything. Normal boot rules apply here i.e. hemline should fall 1 inch before top of boots but these boots ask for more. Here are some more don’t dos for these instellar stunners:
- Don’t overthink them. Wearing heavy materials like tapestry or a glitter dress would look just overdone.
- Don’t match the color of the boots with your outfit, pink glitter does not mean pink outfit.
- Finally, these are not dress shoes, add a punch to a causal outfit.
Happy Hump Day!!
The last stop on our pre fall journey ends in clutches with flowers on them. Think very dark and romantic floral patterns and flower embellishments. FYI I went yesterday to Lord And Taylor and was pleasantly surprised to find a ton of flower and global print clutches and bags at 70% off! They even have an extra 25% off coupon to stack on top! I was able to score an gorg floral print top handle bag ( another huge Fall staple) by Ted Baker for $65 down from $249!! So that really hits home what I was saying about end of season sales..A lot of the floral trends from Soring and Summer can be used for Fall; saving you tons of money and helping you try a trend you weren’t too sure about. Nordstrom is also having their end of season sale right now.
I chose the flower clutch as I feel ladies are sleeping on one of my fave accessories! You can throw a clutch into your work tote and pull it out for a night on the town. I like using larger clutches as day bag cuz they hold so much yet can fit easily under my arm or in a tote bag while I’m out and about. The flower clutch will add a statement to any outfit and as the leaves fall you will be carrying around a garden to remind you to stop and smell the roses…
Hello again readers as our prior post stated we are compiling the pre Fall must haves all under $50! Another good tip for Pre Fall shopping is that the end of season sales have a lot of stuff that’s good for Fall as summer did have the Bohemian world trend so there’s a lot of embroidered dusters, fringe beaded bags and peep toe booties to be found at up to 80% off!
Next up up is the floral bootie that has been embroidered with tons of flora and fauna! I am so happy to see embroidered flowers as it’s my fave and can be easily paired with my bohemian rocker style. These beauties can be paired with jeans, tee and a duster or motorcycle jacket; or you can wear a solid maxi dress and make them your statement piece! Below I have found some stunning booties and the price will make your jaw drop!
It’s sad to see Summer go ( not for me as I adore cooler weather and avoid the sun like a vampire) but at least you can look forward to end of season sales and some pre Fall sales as well.
This Fall we are once again seeing Global Nomad take over the runways..(think tribal designs, heavy embroidery, tapestry fabrics and furs; real and faux) Every model looked like she just came back from an exotic vacation and was dripping with heavy beading and lots of ethnic prints.. So I have put together a series of blogs based on these trends and how to find them; all as always will be under $50! So if you haven’t tried any of these looks you can do so without breaking the bank..
The tapestry tote is so pretty and will take you all the way into next season as it’s look is so versatile and the print can be worn with jeans or dressed up with a nice little black dress or you can Anna Sui it and go head to toe embroidery with the tote as an accent! Either way it’s such a nice statement piece that will get so much wear! Here are my choices below!
Summer sure went by fast!! It is time to head to the beach in the next 2 weeks beforw you miss your chance. Here are some great swimsuit trends everyone is obsessed with right now plus with the wrap up of Miami Swim Week, we will take a peek of 2 swim suits hot next year.
1. Cut-out one pieces have been in style for a while now but addition of ruffles and more strategically placed cut outs changes the game.
2. Back and center straps were so hot this year.
KEEP: Side cut outs are back for 2018 so if you are shopping those clearance racks for next year… Side cuts!!
TRY: Tankinis and strappy accents
TOSS: Ruffles and bathing suits that are low in the back.
With all the talk of gender fluency, it seems strange there are not alot of unisex trends out there. I mean there is a lot of still your boyfriend’s clothes looks for women but at the other end of the spectrum, men sure must want more? So we compiled 3 looks you can share with each other! ( unless your girlfriend is a size 2 then you are out of luck).
Bulky Outer wear
Boxy clothes have always had a unisex feel but now the menswear companies are embracing it.
Both sexes can enjoy the return of white during winter!!
Punk goes West
Cow print and plaid? Yes, please and both sexes have it down packed with fringe detail!
HAPPY HUMP DAY,
We see these local trends and think, is everyone doing this one? Here are some microtrends that wr think are worth keeping, tossing and trying.
HAIR: Tiger Eye
Recently, we saw a fave mag of ours point to Tiger Eye as a color trend and we loved it. I know seeing we are lovers of colors but not all of have our own jobs.
TOSS: The dip ends in color is dead. Please stop.
TRY: Color highlights!! I am trying this trend just in time for fashion week!!
HOME: Pineapple everything
Pineapples? Seriously? These fruits showed up everywhere; from “be a pineapple” slogans to clothes but most notably, lackluster home goods. Please go away…
KEEP: Throw pillows with sayings.
TRY: NOT going with trends, your home should be about you.
CLOTHES: Single sleeve
I just can’t…I already dislike the cold shoulder and this takes it one step further.
TRY: Statement sleeves and for guys, Mesh!
KEEP: statement tees will still be in next year!!!
Every year during the mid year sale season, we pull trends that we see for the ladies in hope to save them some money. This is our first guy installment and it is easier because NYFW men just wrapped up and everyone is already at the London shows.
So here are the trends you should be buying during the summer sales for next summer (these are not predictions):
We loved our uniforms. I guess it really a part of daily life and what woman does not love a man in uniform. On the runway was matching pants and jackets with white or black shirts.
Pajamas stripes have arrived so head over to Gap and pick up some pants. The uniform idea is present here as well but you can see wearing it as a statement piece is also acceptable.
EASY ADDS: Sport wear with khakis.
So far we are seeing 2 colors: pink and white. These are the colors of the season next year. I don’t think American men are gender fluent enough to pull this one off on a daily basis.
