I am obsessed with faux fur coats and jackets! ( I have 10) I love them more then moto jackets because I feel they add a luxe rocker vibe when paired with leggings, tees and body con dresses! I also love being cozy and in the Fall faux fur is a life saver! ( I prefer genuine fur in the winter..sorry Peta but below zero temps require animal skins or you will freeze to death!)

Sadly when I started collecting faux fur coats (thanks Scream Queens) they were a lot cheaper and standard sizes came oversized so I was able to buy those and pay under $50 (2 yrs ago), fast forward and faux fur coats and jackets have shrunken and doubled in prices, so I had to make my choices under $115…

I ladies am plus sized and adore all things dark, punk and rocker. We don’t share much pics of ourselves because we like to focus more on bringing our readers Faşhion info and tips. We also feel there are enough style bloggers out there…that being said I (Eva) am a size 16 and average height..while my Blog partner (Yvette) is a size 4-6 and a little above average height. Just in case anyone was curious lol..

If your like me and love looking cool and badass then check out these Fall pieces I am putting together all under $50!

Lets start with the moto jacket! I love a good moto jacket as it instantly adds a badass cool vibe to anything you throw over it! You can’t go wrong with this staple in your closet.. The updated versions now come in pastel and other colors as well as have embroidery and studs.

This will be our last fashion week post since all major fashion week shows are now over. We hope you enjoyed the ride. Our last show is Torrid, the little  sister of Hot Topic catered to plus size 10-32.

The two women designers behind the brand relaunch;debuted a collection ranging from bohemian staples to rocker style jackets that made me even see a standard size girl wearing one as I exited the show.

The jackets were the star of the show as they presented moto and denim jackets with studs, embroidery and even hand painted bunnies! I don’t know how many will actually make it into production but I know I will be adding any they produce into my wardrobe!

There was also an artful play on bohemian with its over flowing volume that can make curvy girls look unflattering; but Torrid played with a sexier silhouette that featured slim fitted sleeves and cinched waist to really accent the figure instead of masking it. The flowy kimono dusters added a bohemian rocker aesthetic and I am here for that! Torrid also brung back it’s amazing corsets that we’re the reason why I started shopping there in the first place! They were sexy, vampy and so flattering!

We also liked the plus size model search winners walking the runway. We saw one bright star and we know we will be seeing her again. The gift bag was an icing on the cake which featured make up pallets from NYX cosmetics, skull bath bomb, torrid tee and perfume, make up bag and etc!

Check out the runway round up on our youtube page today and more pictures on our instagram page.

Happy Hump Day,

Eva 😘

We took a break from the hectic NYFW: The Shows to see what other fashion events were showing. We landed at a church converted onto a runway for Dexter’s show. Yep, that Dexter but he has come a long way from Project Runway and now calls LA home. It work shows that the glam of the city has left an impression on his aesthetic.

Hats with elaborate embellishments, heavily decorated jackets and a print that turned his visage into an iconic image; were all apart of one of the most exciting shows we say at fashion week.

Okay, we realize that a special customer would need to buy these pieces but that customer is me 😏. The jackets were a sell for me and the lion men hat was the coolest.

Check out more images on our instagram (@tfgnyc), a full look book on the show on our Facebook page (thefashiongoddessblog) and the rundown on our youtube.

Happy Friyay 😉

We went to see Steve Madden’s latest collection for men last night at his SOHO store on broadway and we were obsessed with some styles we saw.

The atmosphere was both electric and sophisticated with a DJ spinning and bourbon tasting.

Bourbon and Whiskey tasting was provided by Widow Jane. We wished we tried the Rye gin but there wasn’t time.

The collection was a mash-up of unisex and more traditional styles with a mix of staple slip ons, high tops and shoes in basic neutrals like camel, gray, brown and charcoal. There was a treatment to leather shoes that gave them a worn look.

The biggest surprise were the more eclectic designs including a high top with skull prints, a totally crystallized slip-on and comic strip prints which all gave a cool street vibe.

The bags were manufactured felt and canvas which has been big for men but has little design. The shoes were the hit of the show.

Stalk our instagram for more pictures of the event @tfgnyc.

Special edition 😉

After NY, became the last city to give men their own fashion week, we did not aspect unisex runways during NYFW, a time to display women fashion. We knew it was inevitable, the cost of putting on 2 shows must be expensive especially for budding designers. So here are the best men looks we saw at women’s NYFW:

DEXTER

yep, the project runway alumni put on his own show at Style fashion week and we will cover the street fashion shows next week. We love the studs, the vampire lips and the cleverly placed face of dexter himself.

See more pics on our instagram, tfgnyc.

MALAN BRETON

Wayard prince meets pajama party at Malan Breton for men. The color scheme was full of neutrals but the embellishments from white pipping to the cool button and zipper details (like jacket above) gave the collection the same glam as his women’s without seeming opera-like.
TAORAY TAORAY

Okay, this was nothing like her more modern contemporary “adult” brands and we were invited to her younger brand as the email put it, we expected her love of minialism to be front and center. We were wrong, we got a hip hip filled display of dancing models changing right before us, an illustrator drawing the designs and clothes that looked nothing like she would design. I was keen on women but the guys looked cool.

I hope to get this out of my camera soon.

Happy Hump Day

Yvette 😘

We love reporting on new designers!! We also love to give our readers a glimpse of something new. So this NYFW season we journeyed to other shows besides the tents and landed at Style Fashion Week at the Intrepid. We saw many Project Runway Alumni  (will get to them soon 😉) but we also some note worthy Asian Designers as well.

The clothes were stipped in traditional Asian silhouettes including wide belts, wide pants and a touch of Origami in layered dresses. I could see Japanese (obi belts), Chinese  (voluminous shapes) and the Korean love of color all influenced this collection. Still, what really stole the show was the bags.

A sweet collaboration of clear acrylic and iridescent foil totes and sequin flowers accents on satchels make the bags the standout of the show.

We loved the elongated totes with the large zip pouch which seem of the moment need to carry everything. The metal handles give an industrial look while the clear material gives an air of fun.

Tommorrow more alternative fashion week designers.

Happy Monday! 😙

I went to 20 shows this fashion week mostly because of group shows and I can not believe how most designers resorted to gimmicks in an too obvious attempt to move the Millenial shopper to the checkout line, here are 3 things I hoped never to see but…😧

MICRO PATCHES ON CLOTHES?

We saw this trend all over boring bags last year, bought by Millenials in droves and now you can find these micro patches on clothes particulary at David Tupaz’s show. Strange…doesn’t he do ballgowns? Tracy Reese was another designer adding patches. The horror and it is not even halloween yet!!

STREET WEAR MEETS SPORTS WEAR

Why? We were horrified at the debut of Taoray Taoray, Taoray Wang’s younger line that had none of her classic minimal style but seemed a combination of Versace meets The hood.

Then a certain Project Runway Alumini surprised by totally changing his aesthetic  (complete 180) and wasn’t even prepared!

CHEAP SPARKLE

We know Millenials hate sparkle and abhors sequin but still love those quirky festival looks. So enter cheap lame and carnival looks at….dear I say it..David Tupaz again.

And it gets worst..

We will chronicle the bit falls of fashion week all week long next month so come back often!!

Happy Hump Day

Y 😙

This fashion week was so full of millenial gimmicks that I can say that out of 20 shows I saw, only 5 moved me. Pamella Rowland was not one of them.  Full of fashion hat tricks like the forever impractical feathers and the hard to care for sequin ( which I usually love) was somehow uneventful and over done.

It was not even the worst part; it was the silhouettes that were old and outdated. Who wears pencil skirt dresses anymore? Also, there were cape dresses with shoulder detail. The above dress is a little too long and come spring, everyone will have to run to a tailor. A simple length to the ankle would have turned it from models only dress to any woman dress.

The best looks were infused with glitter and sheer detail proving that she could pull off young and sexy. Can I have an entire collection of the above dress?

Happy Monday

Yvette 😙

We finally ditch the no-make up, makeup trends with bright and bold accents that have all of us layering on colors and metallics. Here are the three makeup trends, we are dying to try this fall!

The idea is to use bold metallics, bronze, gold and silver to a smoky eye of your choice. Of course, we saw lower key looks at Nicholas K, LES COPAINS, and Laura Biagiotti but the look also got the artist treatment at Chirstian Siriano. Play with the look and find what is your comfort zone.

We love bold lips!! This fall the darker the better!! And for an added bonus, it is so universal, skin tone wise!!!

EXTREME NAILS

We are in love with playing with our nails!! So we love the look here which is just do whatever crazy thing you want!!!

As always, if you try these look, #tfgfall and you could be featured on our instagram page!!

Happy Hump Day 💋
