Winter is around the corner so buying a fall jacket just isn’t necessary now. Here are 5 ways to update the jackets you already have.
By Yvette E
These days everyone is preparing for another recession but the smart ones know it’s already here (11.99 for coffee pods!?). We are preparing by cutting back on purchases but we still want our wardrobe to look fresh.
So here are 5 ways to update that fall jacket.
Take it to the tailor and have it either shortened or lengthened. To lengthen, bring a piece of fabric with you that would complement the jacket. If you have a sewing machine at home, you can sew it yourself. No machine or money for a tailor. Use buttons and sew them to the bottom. Cut slots in the fabric you choose to attach to the jacket. Use hem tape to clean up edges. Walla! Shorten by using scissors and hem tape. Leave about 1/2″ to length you want for hemming.
All about the sleeves
Its been all about sleeves recently in fashion and switching up sleeves can add a unique look to an old jacket.
You can even hybrid a old sweater with it to get even better results.
With a little trim off amazon and a spray on fabric glue, you can update that fall jacket. Add bohemian themed trim will make it timeless. Add faux fur for a more elegant look.
Patches and studs are so hot right now. Instead of adding studs one by one, get a plastic stud sheet instead. Stick with thin embroidered patches to easily iron on. The thicker the patch, the harder it is to sew on.
IT’S IN THE DETAILS
Switch up details already on the jacket. It the jacket has a snap hood, there are places to replace it. Switch out buttons for new ones and you can even dye it a new color.

Makeup is the next thing to become gender neutral but we know subtle is the answer for wear when it comes to men.
By Yvette E
Okay, those male makeup bloggers look alot like girls when they put on a face full of makeup and places like Korea and Japan, guys are wearing foundation to look younger (and keep their jobs longer) but is there a middle ground? Can a guy wear makeup everyday without getting teased by his friends or significant other? We picked 3 simple styles to play with right now that won’t make you feel weird.
Tinted lip gloss
Add it to your brow area or to your lips, it is a subtle pop of color without looking overdone. Try colors that match your undertone and stay away from red hues.
We love this color eyeliner because its not as stark as black and can add a subtle highlight even on brown skin. Play with the brown colors to find your comfort zone.
We love the hair clip at Dior and wanted to see a guy try it IRL. I know it’s a stretch but replacing the paper with a clean part and the clip with a bobby pin perhaps?
How would make this look work in real life? I would love heat from you or tag us on Instagram if you are wearing the look and we will feature you on our page!
Hair accessories are back but a good hair cut is always in style. We highlight the best fall cuts on today’s blog.

The best part about fall hair is that it focuses on short haircuts!
Parting your hair down the middle really isn’t adventurous which is why this is one of our favorite trends. Any hair length can achieve the look. Pair the center part with slick hair for a sporty vibe, barrettes for a glam look or a low bun for a classic look.
Rather wavy, bold, angular or flipped, this hairstyle is back and we love it. Angular (bottom right) layers your hair for a more choppy look while bold (left) focuses on a long side bang. For a vintage look flip up ends (top right).
Add some waves to your hair! Wet, crimped or finger waved, its up to you but by adding a wave to you locks would let you stand out in the crowd.
For shorter hair, stay away from crimp styles.
Low and loose or framing your hair, braids are in style this fall and despite it usually only fabulous on long hair, we think the crown look can be used on anyone. For short hair, create a crown braid by weaving hair from the top with hair from the side for a thicker braid.
Every year, some sort of fringe is in and this year, it’s the curtain fringe. These bangs come with long tresses on the side and are long enough to slightly curve.
All hair types can accomplish this look by simply pulling hair from top of head. Pair with a top knot (also on trend) for a more classic look or go school girl chic with a low braid or pony.
Shoes have always been my weakness and with all the sales, it’s tempting to buy out of season. We break down what shoes are on sale now that can transcend all seasons and be in style!

Mules, Animal print and combat boots…the trends are everywhere but being true to your style means breaking through that trend. We don’t recommend combat boots for people who live in sweats nor who dress classical. We outlined 3 trends any style can wear without sacrifice.
These boots will be in until Spring 2020 so that’s six months of wear so here is what to look for:
Classic – look for small crystal details on knee length boots. Make sure crystals are sporadically placed. Sequin may be another low key option.
Sporty/Casual – Look for metallic shoes in silver for that shine and shimmer look. Stick to ankle boots.
Vintage/Romance – Structured heels and boxy shapes are perfect for you in metallics. Look for floral and paint-like motifs.
Glam girls can take out the ones they bought back in 2016 if you didn’t sell them.
Yep, these shoes are still in style from last season with a new furry makeover. You definitely have these from fall 2018 in your closet so pair it with the knee high socks trend and your there for fall and spring.
Our unisex choice goes to loafers since both men and women will be rocking this trend next year! Get it a size bigger to layer socks and/or thermal stockings to extend wear till 20 degrees!!
Every year, just before halloween, we highlight costumes you can make at home and still ace the halloween party!

Stranger things kids
Some jeans and a buttondown short sleeve shirt could make you 11 from Season 3 of stranger things. To fake suspenders, sew a stripe of ribbon on each side of the shirt! For extra realism points, us lipstick to give yourself a bloody nose!
The entire cast of Friends are easily costumes from Joey’s “how u do-ing?” to neurotic Ross.
Take a page from any character outfit because the personality is more important then the outfit.
It helps the entire decade now trending.
This one is for the guys! We love the simple suit worn by the groom. All you need to do is borrow some brown eyeliner to rim your eyes and slick your hair back.
Brands are using collaborations to boast sales and we are to tell you which ones we are excited to see and buy!
By Yvette E
Some brands collaborarive efforts have been under the radar while others have been in the news for months these are the collabs we are still looking to buy and the ones we are still hoping to see state side. We missed K-swiss and Clueless drop, the latest longchamp collabs and Kith newest partner. The ones that have us really bummed…
Uooyaa x The House of Lacroix – August (China)
We love LaCroix and his pairing with chinese street brand, Uooyaa in August was epic. Unfortunately, this collab has yet to hit stateside despite promises it would. We keep checking Century21 stores everyday with heavy hearts.
Vivienne Westwood x Vans
The unisex shoe brands collab with legendary London punk queen is still on the website and marks the few times the brand has collaborated with a person rather than a concept. Check out the collection here! Prices range from $70 to $130.
Valli x h&m
Dropping November 7th, this brand has us wishing payday advance was still a thing or H&M had some sort of pay later feature on their website! The collection has broad range of prices from $14.99 to $400 so you may need to either wait in line or by your computer.
We see pictures of abandoned malls and yet a second mall of America is making its way to Secaucus and NY built 3 malls in just 5 years. So what’s the real story?
By Yvette E
Mall culture was said to have died with the rise of the internet and the retail apocalypse seems to be killing what’s left with anchor stores like Sears, Macy’s and Jcpenney’s closing but new malls are being built around 1 new idea: all inclusive entertainment.
The new malls have a mix of high end clothing, immersive installations and unique food that is said to be attracting the Millennials who are tired of the online culture and are buying into the “social media anxiety” idea.
There are pulling thier “Gen Z” kids with them. So malls aren’t disappearing but evolving.
The long awaited sequel to Mall of America (16 years in the making), American Dream, is near completion in Secaucus with 3 theme parks, ice skating ring, a large array of food and stores among other attractions. It is so big it has to open in 4 stages!
The Hudson Yard Mall that opened last year in NY has taken the artist approach with installations being the major draw. The Shed and an interactive staircase are both features that keep Instagram savvy people coming back.
Meanwhile, LES got its own Westfield Mall about 2 years ago which plans to be more tech focused with its alien spaceship look on the outside and its being attached to the subway and PATH was genius. (A Path grey card to receive 10% off at certain stores).
The experts haven’t really said if any of these new structures are the future of retail but we may at least know, online won’t be the only way to shop in the foreseeable future.
